Reformer Pilates
Private Reformer 1-2-1 sessions are tailored towards each individual and their specific goals. Sessions can be tailored from a Beginner level, Rehabilitation of injuries to an Advanced level. Whatever your circumstances I will tailor your 1-2-1 using a combination of Mat, Reformer, Tower, Barrels and small props equipment to ensure you get the best out of the session.
IMPORTANT:
Please note all classes are planned for a balanced workout incorporating ALL spinal movements flexion, extension, rotation and lateral flexion (side bending). Additionally, they may incorporate moves performed kneeling, including weight being taken onto the upper body/arms, sitting, standing, and lying on your front as well as lying on your back and side and transitioning between these positions.
If you have significant restrictions or limitations we will do our best, but may not be able to safely incorporate you in a class setting. Safety is ALWAYS our first priority and we may ask you to attend a private 1/1 session prior to joining a class.
FAQs
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a method of exercise created by the late, great Joseph H Pilates in the early 1920’s. Throughout his life Pilates dedicated himself to developing his system, devising exercises and a range of equipment designed to improve physical and mental health. Pilates exercises incorporate the whole body and are performed with precision and control to help re-balance muscle use through the entire body. There is a focus on working from the centre of your body, engaging your core stability muscles, and using the correct muscles for each movement. Benefits of Pilates include increased strength and flexibility, improved balance and posture, and pain free functional movement with optimal muscle balance around the joints.
Who is Pilates for?
Everyone! We teach clients of all ages and abilities from 14 to 80 years of age. Pilates is a safe and effective form of exercise which can be adapted to suit individual needs and practised at an individual pace; from gentle post injury exercises to regain strength and mobility, up to a demanding full body, cardio workout. Movement is controlled, mindful and flowing. Pilates is as much a workout for the mind as for the body. Pilates is a great complement to other sporting and fitness activities, strengthening your core and increasing flexibility, and optimising alignment and movement patterns.
