I started my yoga journey about 20 years ago when I needed help to recover movement in my left shoulder after breaking my collar-bone.  I have a history of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome too, so I thought that yoga could also be a gentle form of activity that would help move me but not exhaust me.  I found the small weekly class that I attended to be really helpful in terms of increasing the movement in the shoulder joint but I also felt calm and relaxed after a class, always sleeping really well and it seemed to help keep my energy levels and health on a more even keel.   This weekly class became a real beacon of joy in my otherwise very busy week.

When my husband and I moved to Four Marks in 2012, I joined a yoga class in the village hall run by a teacher who trained with the Inner Yoga Trust.  I really enjoyed the classes she ran and I could really feel the benefit of it throughout my body, as well as helping me manage my chronic fatigue.  It also helped me mentally giving me some calmness which helped decrease my stress levels.  It was clear to me that yoga was an important part of my life.

In 2018, I decided to take my yoga journey further.  I wanted to learn more about yoga but also ways to help me manage my health and wellbeing.  So, I signed up to the Inner Yoga Teacher Training Diploma Course which consisted of 3 years/500 hours of face-to-face teaching and learning.  This course has been transformational for me in terms of learning about the yoga asanas (postures), the breathing and meditation, but also the importance of the spiritual side of yoga and how it seeps into every part of my life.  I am due to complete the course in November 2022.

I started running classes at The Pilates Barn Ropley in April 2022.  I teach an intuitive hatha style of yoga, through yoga asanas (postures), meditation and pranayama (breathing).  The small sized class (max 6 people) is a restorative space where we find that balance between movement and stillness.  We allow time to explore the change we bring to our body, mind and breath through moving the spine, releasing tension in our hips and shoulders, with the yoga asanas, as well as tuning into what our body needs. The classes are open to all levels of ability as I adapt the asanas to the students and what they need.

I have now given up my full-time corporate job and am now focusing on my yoga teaching.  I am also doing a Practioner Course with the School of Thai Yoga Massage which will support my yoga teaching. When not doing yoga, you will find me walking my two Wheaten Terriers with my husband; gardening or reading!
